Netflix Catalog Index - Changes Only

Maybe this is already possible, if so, I have not seen it anywhere. I think a very useful addition would be to allow to not just query for the WHOLE CATALOG INDEX, but the ability to query for just the changes since "x" time. This would allow us on a daily basis to download only the changes?

    Thanks

We don't offer that yet for a number of reasons (Since the index is big and takes some time to generate on our side, we cache the file and serve it up as one big block. The multiple second delay at the start isn't us generating the file, it has to do with sending it out. We're working to speed that up.)

Still, it's not a bad idea, particularly for reasonably short periods. We'll add it to our "to-do" list and see what we can come up with.

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents worth in. This would really be useful and would enable a category of apps that would make Netflix much more user friendly. One of the big problems with finding movies to rent in Netflix is that there are so many, and no matter how precise your search criteria, you're going to get back movies that you've already seen, or already decided that you don't want to see. With this feature you'd be able to build an app that would let you mark movies that you don't want to see or have already seen, and just get back ones that are "new to you". But the only way that this works is if you can get just new movies back, so you don't have to download the data for all the movies everytime.
