See the feature article "For the love of movies: recommendations from the grid" ( http://www.isgtw.org/?pid=1001703 ) in the most recent issue of iinternational Science Grid This Week ( http://www.isgtw.org ) for an interesting transcontinental implementation of choosing favorite movies.
The author presents it via a video that was produced at the 4th EGEE User Forum in Catania, Italy ( http://egee-uf4.eu-egee.org )
For those of you in the United States interested in learning more about the Grid and its application to complex computational tasks (such as choosing a good movie ;-), take a look at Open Science Grid ( http://www.opensciencegrid.org/ ) which is supported by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science.
For those of you in Europe interested in similar things, take a look at Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE) ( http://www.eu-egee.org/ ) which is co-funded by the European Commission.
