I'm running across a problem that I've seen posted about previously a few months ago -- Right now there is no way (as far as I can tell) to get a list of movies by genre/popularity that plays nicely with the API.
By this I mean you provide a bunch of nice feeds at http://www.netflix.com/RSSFeeds for things like "most popular instant watch in the last 3 months" but these are RSS feeds and there is no (safe) way to convert that feed into something useful with the API.
Yes, I do realize you can parse the feeds and infer from the links a way to get the movie details but that seems very, very fragile and needlessly cumbersome. Are there any plans to provide those feeds in an API friendly manner?
We're working on ways to filter and sort the catalog in a number of interesting ways. It's the number one feature in our roadmap but we still have a ways to go before it's ready.
I have one more request for catalog index dumps. Please include Netflix user rating in the catalog, so that it can be bulk updated. I believe user ratings change considerably over a period of time especially for newly released movies.
Hi John,
Sorry for the odd way to contact you. I also emailed you at support@movieflickapp.com.
I'm trying to contact you about your great Netflix application , can you email me at guy@pageonce.com
Thanks
Guy
I am looking for some collaboration to fill out a solution that allows searching by genre, actor or format. The resulting solution will be shared for open use.

Can you provide any kind of update on when we might expect browse functionality via the API?
