    Hello,

I am working to write a replacement for an existing netflix plugin for Media Portal.

I noticed that in the terms of service it says we cant embed play now but must spawn a new window.

How does this apply to non web based applications?

I know there are a few plugins for Microsoft Media Center that allow browsing and watching videos that are embedded inside mce.

    Any information would be appreciated.

On a side note the api is great and makes pulling information really clean and easy.

    Thanks

    Hi David,

Sorry for the tardy reply but most of us were away on vacation. We don't support integration of the instant watch service directly into applications at this time, unless you are a major CE partner that comes through our device program. We are starting to look into ways to make our browser-based player more app-friendly for apps that can embed a browser, e.g. key overrides, OAuth-authentication, etc.

David, I'm working on the plugin for GB-PVR and my solution was to create a simple form that takes the wiplayer url as a parameter. with only an IE browser ActiveX control similar to running IE in kiosk mode. Whenever someone wants to watch a movie, the plugin simply launches the new form(string movieURL). Send me an email to this username at oshinetworks.com if you have any questions.

Michael, key overrides would be AWESOME or even just a predefined list of key commands for the player.

This is ashame. I just signed up for a Netflix account and a developer account solely for the purpose of using it with Media Portal. I saw an existing plugin was available and was very disappointed to find out that all new accounts are forced into the Silverlight Beta. I will probably go ahead and cancel my Netflix account unless I see some sort of light at the end of the tunnel for this issue.

I was really happy to see an API available, but saddened to see a Silverlight/Browser requirement.

Another MediaPortal user here, just signed up to Netflix and am suprised that I cannot use mediaportal to play my netflix movies. The GB-PVR/Active X/IE browser suggestion might work but sounds ugly.
